In a project led by the Royal Zoological Society of Scotland, nineteen wildcats bred at the Highland Wildlife Park were released last year near Aviemore. One of their number, Willie, decided to make a considerable trek all the way over the Cairngorm mountain range arriving at Invercauld just before Christmas.

Willie is still at Invercauld and is being monitored by the RZSS with assistance from Invercauld Estate staff. The photo shows Willie in an area where there is a plentiful supply of food and of juniper bushes to provide cover.
