The Landward team came to Invercauld Estate in August 2023 to film the installation of ‘woody debris’ into the River Clunie. As part of a wider riparian project, whole trees, including their root bowls, have been buried into the river in various locations mimicking a natural process when old trees die and fall into the water.
The pools these trees then create will help provide areas of cooler water and habitat for salmon at a variety of ages in the growth cycle at a time when the temperature of the water is generally increasing due to climate change.
